GTGL Snippets: Florence, Tuscany, Italy

Even before I visited Florence, it already seemed like a memory. Distinctly a memory, not an imagination.

If you've come across The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, John Koenig invented the word "moledro". As I learned about the Renaissance in school, and immersed myself in reading about, it seemed I had that moledro feeling with every character I encountered.

A Trip to Victorian London at The Great Dickens Christmas Fair

As we took a stroll down the Grand Concourse, and allowed ourselves to be part of a story, we met a detective helping out a lady find her mother's dog, a widow who scared the crap out of my husband as she asked for directions to the graveyard (I tried to comfort her by giving her a hug 🤗), a drunkard passed out by the docks, a wench trying to make her living, a lady smitten after getting a kiss on the cheek from the prince of Wales, boys yelling out names they have telegrams and roses for, and even Ebenezer Scrooge post the scrooge.

GTGL Snippets: Barnegat Lighthouse

I was so moved by Bianca’s snippet of the Portland Head Light that I’m sharing one of the many photos I took from the top of yet another United States lighthouse, the Barnegat Lighthouse in New Jersey. It took me 217 steps to get to this point of Old Barney, a nickname that residents has fondly bestowed on this local beacon, which visitors are quite happy to instantly adapt, and to capture this drone-like shot of this absolutely gorgeous pre-summer midday scene below.

GTGL Snippets: Portland Head Light

Looks familiar? That's because the Portland Head Light is one of the most photographed, if not THE most photographed, lighthouses in the US. Even the rugged cliff it sits on, towering 101 feet above the water, is picture perfect. I think it's the white farm style fence and the red roof of the adjacent building that give this whole vista that postcard-ready feel.

Napa Valley Favorites: Restaurants

Lucky me, this now world-class destination is just in my backyard. We can easily go for coffee, or a Sunday brunch, or make a whole day out of it with a wine tasting tour. We're definitely all for trying something new, But there's definitely those places that we know when we crave for a specific thing, we know exactly where to go - the tried and tested, where we won't be leaving the satisfaction of our cravings to chance.

GTGL Snippets: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Universal Studios Hollywood

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Hollywood did not disappoint. It's comprised of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. There are two rides - the 3D Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride through Hogwarts, and the small roller coaster Flight of the Hippogriff. You also get in line to Ollivanders where there's a bit of a show for the wand to find the wizard before you shop for your wand. With your interactive wand, there are various spots throughout the park where you can use it.
