Meeting blogger friends + slow traveling in Massachusetts

After nearly 10 years of online friendship and 5 or so years of failed, albeit lukewarm, attempts at meeting up, I finally got to meet two of my blogger friends! As they're both currently living in the Boston metro area, my family and I took advantage of one 4th of July weekend holiday to finally go and see them.

Reflections on our experiences together while hiking through Mt. Tamalpais

For this year's Get There | Get Lost Founders Meetup (I just came up with that, and I'm going to make it a thing!), we had planned a two-day excursion of some of Bianca's tried and tested places in Marin County, and one of them was Mt. Tamalpais.

I had some reflections on our travels together - how often we see each other, and how it's never enough.

The first glimpse of it got us all awestruck. We followed the path to the viewing deck, all the while taking glances of the intricate water garden, to have a full scale perspective of the whole thing.

Ice Sculpture Philly embellished a little corner in downtown Princeton, New Jersey with super cool (see what I did there? 😜) artworks. For their final piece, the ice artists carved out these linked hearts to commemorate Valentine's Day. 💕

Tried & Tested: Sure Wins When You Pass Through Carmel-by-the-Sea

There’s just something about towns with prepositions in it. ‘By-the-sea’, ‘upon-Avon’ - okay, those are the only two I can think of at this moment. But, because the town is relative to a place, it already gives you something to visualize.

I've been coming to Carmel for years, but always just passing through - either while staying at Monterey, or to drive people along the 17 mile drive in Pebble Beach. For a three-day getaway to the California coast, this time, we decided to stay in the quaint artistic town of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

48 Hours in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark

In Copenhagen, as we chatted with strangers and they asked what else did we have planned during our trip to Denmark, I mentioned we were going to Aarhus (pronounced oar-hus). Most of the people we talked to have not been there, but everyone said they’ve heard it was beautiful. When I was planning our trip, I thought Aarhus was going to be more like my base to travel around Jutland. But actually, this university town is a veritable destination on its own.

That time when we took a 'basic' tour of Coron

Coron is part of the Calamian Group of Islands, which serves as a jumping point for island-hopping adventures to other islands in the area as well as for the wide-range of exciting activities Palawan has to offer: snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking and trekking, and so much more.

Despite the generic itinerary template arranged by our tour operator, nothing about our three-days-two-nights package was a basic experience.

A visit to the Serpentine Gallery and enjoying the annual summer pavilion may be pedestrian for some, but for us, it was a bucket list item. More than seeing the pavilion, or the specific installation at the time. It was about seeing the idea behind an annual installation from the most brilliant architects and artists in the world.

The larger-than-life ornaments are a New York City Christmas season staple. These giant, red, steel-reinforced fiberglass balls with chrome-finished caps and hooks, are installed every year since 1993 in front of the Exxon Building on the Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue). They are among the most photographed holiday decorations in Midtown Manhattan.
